Pink House by Mezzo Atelier
Mezzo Atelier, an Italian/Portuguese architectural practice, presents a delightful project on the Atlantic island of São Miguel in the Azores, where an early 20th-century stable has been transformed into two guesthouses that seamlessly blend history with contemporary design.
The primary objective of the design was to preserve the essence, architectural lines, and rural ambiance of the original structure while adapting it to a new typology and modern regulations. Carefully integrated new openings were introduced into the vibrant façades and stone walls, maintaining harmony with the existing construction. Additionally, a new volume was seamlessly incorporated into the main structure, facilitating the emergence of a second, smaller house that complements the overall composition.
