Embracing Tranquility: The Resurrection Chapel
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Gemeinde Strass im Attergau, Austria, the Resurrection Chapel stands as a serene testament to spiritual reflection and architectural ingenuity, designed by LP architektur.
A Harmonious Setting
Located within the extension of an old gravel pit, the Resurrection Chapel creates a new focal point in the community, seamlessly blending with its surroundings. The chapel’s concrete bracket, nestled against the slope, serves as a natural conclusion to the local topography, defining the chapel’s unique address.
Inviting Serenity
Visitors are welcomed through a casually designed forecourt, leading to a covered entrance that transitions into the anteroom. Here, a subtle diversion guides visitors towards the open, upward-reaching chapel room. Marked by its minimalist construction and materiality, the chapel exudes an atmosphere of tranquility, inviting contemplation and solace.
Sacred Spaces
As visitors ascend, the walls of the chapel dissolve into their construction, creating an ethereal atmosphere accentuated by the interplay of light and shadow. The combination of vertical facade structures, horizontal slats, and natural materials such as larch and spruce wood, imbues the chapel with a sense of sacredness and unmistakable identity.
Architectural Identity
The Resurrection Chapel’s design speaks volumes through its understated elegance and thoughtful integration with the natural landscape. By embracing simplicity and prioritizing natural materials, LP architektur has created a space that transcends the ordinary, offering a sanctuary for reflection and spiritual connection amidst the serene Austrian countryside.
